Currently, we are in need of general funds to help cover our vet costs.  We are not working to
raise funds for one specific animal, but have had several animals who have had issues lately
that have lead to emergency vet visits and high bills!

Little Tommy Boy
Tommy is an 8 week old domestic short haired gray and white kitten.  He has had a very difficult
time so far since his birth.  First he was ripped from his mother, barely weaned and spent the
next several weeks at a rural overcrowded shelter in NC.  His only friend there was a darling
orange tabby boy and the shelter volunteer.

Tommy should be named Lucky.  Tommy arrived on June 21
st into his Homeward Trails foster home.  On June 22nd his
foster Mom noticed he was squinting his right eye.  His eye
issues progressed rapidly to a very serious infection that
resulted in emergency surgery to remove the affected eye.
Without the surgery his eye was in immediate danger of
rupture which could have put Tommy's life at risk.  The
significance of his luck is very important in his story.  Only
one day separated him from leaving the shelter and falling ill.  Had he still been at the shelter
young Tommy would have forfeited his life as the shelters do not have the resources to care for
sick animals.  Fortunately for him Homeward Trails makes sure all our animals get the very
best care and the best chance at a happy life.

Tommy's surgery and care ended up costing us around\
$1,000.  So any donations you can make--large or
small--will really help us offset this cost. With your
donations, we can continue to help save animals who
otherwise would have no chance of survival.

Tommy is also looking for a home of his very own.  Now
that he feels so much better his personality is shining
through.  He is the snuggliest little guy you would ever
meet.  His purr is louder than most and constant.  He
came out of surgery purring.  He does not notice the
lack of his eye and enjoys the reprieve that luck gave
him, in every meal, every pet, every hug and every day.

Pretty Polly
Polly was dumped outside by her family and found her way to a very poor, rural no-kill shelter.
Homeward Trails was contacted about her due to her poor health.  They begged us to take her
since they could not fully care for her conditions there.  Polly arrived in foster care with a nasty
Upper Respiratory Infection, which caused her to wheeze among other things, a horrible case of
earmites, and scabs covering her head and neck.  She was starving and scratching all the time.
Polly is still a bit of a mystery...as we are not 100% sure what is ailing her.  However, her
wounds are healing and we have ruled out a number of issues.  Polly has required a number of
vet visits and tests...and she is now seeing a specialist for her care.

Despite all of Pretty Polly's issues, she is such an
outstanding and loving cat.  Everyone who meets
her comments on how cute and friendly she is!
Polly is the most gentle and sweet little soul.  She
just wants to spend her days following you around
and being your best buddy.  She loves laps and has
a fantastic purr.  She loves other animals--cats and
dogs...and she is fantastic with children!  We
believe that Polly is about 1-2 years old, however
she is the size of an older kitten at about 6-7
pounds.  Polly is a gray tabby with sandy markings
on her stomach.  She is the most beautiful amber eyes around!  Please consider sponsoring
Pretty Polly's care.  She is an outstanding and loving cat who really needs your help!

Please see Pretty Polly's
PetFinder page for more information about her.
