Welcome to Adopt MEow!

AdoptMEow is a site dedicated to the foster and shelter cats of Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, which is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit
organization based in Arlington, Virginia.  Homeward Trails Animal Rescue works to rescue both cats and dogs from rural, low-income,
high-kill shelters in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia.  HTAR has already saved over 1500 animals in 2008 alone.

This site is not the official site of Homeward Trails, however it is run by HTAR volunteers, in order to highlight some of our special
kitties who are in need of a forever home!  We will also inform you of any kitties who may be in need of special donations to cover the
costs of surgeries or other health issues.  This is also a site for adoptive families to share their stories and pictures.

TANTALIZING TABBIES
TWISTER

Twister (above right) is one handsome boy! This poor orange tabby boy was caught up in a
briar patch in rural VA, his fur matted and tangled like he'd been caught up in a
tornado/twister...thus his name.  He made it to an all-dog shelter where we stepped in to
rescue him!  Twister seems uninterested in dogs and fine with other mellow cats.  He is about
3 years old, neutered and current on his shots. He will do best in an adult household as when
he came to us he was a bit leary of people...but now purrs and rubs on your legs. He just may
be nervous around kids. Twister is one GREAT kitty...can you please give him a good home?

ZOE

Zoe is a sweet little brown tabby who has cute
white markings on her face, a white bib on her
chest, and white paws! Zoe is an adorable,
youthful, energetic, and playful cat. She loves
to play and dart around the house, but she is
also given to snuggling on laps. She loves
people and she loves to be pet all over: under
her chin, behind her ears, on her belly, on her
back, you name it! When she is happy, she
loves to roll over on her back and have her belly
rubbed.

Dorie & Skywalker

Dorie & Skywalker are sweet 6
month old tabby kittens!  They
are both fixed and up to date on
their shots.  Dorie & Skywalker
are best buddies and need to be
adopted together.

Skywalker (above) loves
climbing up and down the cat
tree. He pauses now and again
to look out the nearby window at
birds. Skywalker also loves to
play with other cat toys,
especially toys tied to strings on
poles. He sure likes being picked
up and carried about.

Dorie (below) is small for her
age, but what she lacks in size,
she makes up for in heart. When
she first went to her foster
home, she was skittish. That
lasted all of two days. She’s
already become a lovebug, and
she’s on her way to becoming a
stellar lap cat.  She also enjoys
running throughout the house,
chasing her “brother” Skywalker.

Super Sweet Sisters

Gyro and Dora are adorable 10 month old brown tabby girls! Born in June 08, these
sisters were stuck in a rural Virginia shelter for no apparent reason.  In their foster
home, they've grown into a lovely pair of kitties!  Dora & Gyro are a bit shy in the
beginning but once they warm up to you, they are fantastic, loving kitties!  They are
sisters and best friends, so need to be adopted together.  They are fixed and up to
date on their shots.

GIZMO

Gizmo (below left) is a curious kitty that loves to explore places that the other have
overlooked! Gizmo loves to look out the window. She gets along well with the resident cat and
even tries to rub faces with him!  Gizmo is still a little timid and tends to run under the bed if
there is a loud noise or someone new comes in the house but she normally comes out in 5
minutes. Gizmo is a wonderful kitty with a really cute meow that comes out sounding like a
squeak! She is curious, talkative and gentle and would be a great addition to any home!

CICI
CiCi was saved from a shelter in very rural Virginia. She was left there with her 3 kittens, all
of whom have been adopted. The shelter had NO heat...and with the cold winter weather, we
were worried that she may not survive the cold, let alone make it out of the shelter. It turns
out that, not only was CiCi left in this cold, sad place...she was also an 8 year old BLIND
kitty. Can you imagine how scary that must have been for her?  Thanks to a number of
kind-hearted people, CiCi was brought to the area and fully vetted.

Cici is a VERY sweet kitty--and is a gentle soul.  She knows her name.  CiCi likes to be
petted--and even drools a little bit when she is really happy.  CiCi is fine with other kitties,
as long as they are introduced slowly.  CiCi will take awhile to adjust to her surroundings so
she will need a patient family.  CiCi has never had a litterbox accident in her foster home.

SWEET SASSY

You'd think that since I was 3 years old, I'd be a boring old cat, but I am NOT! I love to
roam around the house--and as you can see from my picture, I love to watch the birds
from the window! Plus, the sun feels so good on my fur! I like to keep busy and watch
over my new home. I like to be petted--and I'll come over to you and let you know this.
Once I've had my lovin', I'll head off and find something else to do!  Sassy is a unique
tabby--she's a great mixture of tabby colors all in one sweet cat!

CLANCY

Clancy is a handsome orange tabby. He is about 3 years old, and very loving and
gentle.   Clancy is a very mellow cat and has gotten along with every kitty he has
met so far. While he enjoys the company of other cats, he only occasionally engages
in active play with them.   He likes cuddles and being brushed.  He has had
limited exposure to dogs but since he is such a sweetie we think he would do fine.
He has also been patient with all the children he has come in contact with, letting
them carry him around and love on him.  Clancy is also front declawed.
